Beautiful pics of Tamara Day and Sarah Stiles feet & legs
A baby was strapped to my back as one crawled inside the playpen. I spent 12 hours days, for months, sanding and taking wallpaper off, all with one child. Ha! All was starting to come together but there was still a long way to go. For furnishing the space would take a lot of effort in terms of budget and time. I would also have to do my favourite shopping. To stay within my budget I took my kids along to search for treasures in estate sales. Every week, we spent the week of Thursday through Saturday at garage sales and estate sales purchasing old and brand new furniture. Then I stenciled and polished in the driveway throughout the week. The look was a little like this... This is the place where my passion for in the process of restoring old furniture got started. I continued to restore furniture even after we had decorated our house. There was an area on the market where I sold items. I eventually had lots of pieces, I didn't know what to do and I outgrew my space. My home became a place that I hosted open houses, where up to 1000 visitors could see the items on my first floor before purchasing them. Growing Days was created in this house. Alongside my flourishing company, I also started our family. It was a balance between starting a new business and becoming a mother. Growing Days just seemed to be the right fit. In 2013, my daughter Nora was our fourth baby. I adored where my business was taking me, but I felt like I needed some time off. I decided to put off working on my antique furniture and spend time with my kids. It was exactly what I needed. But after a short time, my phone began getting busy. People contacted me asking to assist them in the interior design and renovations of their home. Most of these people were those who had walked through my property during open house for furniture! Then I slowly took on clients according to my own pace. In the end, I had many customers and was operating an enterprise of renovations to homes. You would probably have laughed at me had I had told you that it would be the foundation of an DIY Network tv series. When I look at it, it has made me giggle.
