April Lockhart

April Lockhart, born in 1995 on the 4th of July, started taking lessons on piano and guitar at age seven. The passion for writing songs was ignited. April Lockhart wrote her first track"Different" when she was 12 years old. At 14 years old, April was spending a lot of time writing lyrics and perfecting her musical ability. She started writing songs alongside her father at home in NY and LA shortly after. April also added additional themes to the song "Take My Hand" for some of acquaintances who faced problems like peer pressure, disabilities, and even teenager suicide. Lockhart collaborates with famous clean beauty brand Ilia and is also an influencer in the lifestyle industry with her own growing following. Born without a left hand, the woman has a significant part to play in her. It's however not the only thing she has to tell. Lockhart's profile on Instagram doesn't cover up her disability, but it does not focus solely on the issue. The profile is a statement. We all have multiple aspects of identities and that we're much more than our physical selves. Lockhart states in the video Lockhart in a video interview "I am not convinced that my physical appearance will define me. It's not my intention to have an impact on disabilities because I've got many more things to contribute." It doesn't impact my day-to-day life I do everything normally and I've found the best way for me to adapt the things. This is also part of my personality, and it's something that needs to be addressed. Lockhart's self-acceptance journey is one that will last a lifetime, but she can be a role model in this regard. She admits that she has gone through periods of feeling insecure about her physique and being uncomfortable in certain clothes which showed her arms. Nowadays, she can wear whatever she'd like. and she shares pictures on social networks. She says that self-love is a journey. It's not clear if you'll ever reach the final stage.
